Important Battery Conditioning & Charging Information

Initial Battery Conditioning

When you receive new batteries, charge them for a full 12 hours before first use. Even if the charger turns green earlier, allow the battery to charge for the entire duration.

Standard Charging Routine

After the initial conditioning charge, always charge your scooter or power chair for a full 8 hours after each use to maintain optimal performance and battery health.

First 5 Charge Cycles

During the first five charging cycles, do not discharge below the first yellow light. Charge immediately for 8 hours once you reach that level to properly condition the battery.

After Conditioning Period

After the initial 5 cycles, you may discharge slightly further into the yellow, but continue charging for a full 8 hours after each use.

Proper Charging Setup

Always plug the charger directly into a wall outlet. Avoid using extension cords, power strips, or surge protectors, as these may restrict charging performance.

Long-Term Storage Charging

If the mobility device will not be used for a long period, charge the battery for 12–24 hours every two weeks (e.g., first and third Saturday of each month).

Remove Battery During Inactivity

If you don’t plan to use your scooter or power chair for several days or longer, it’s a good idea to remove the battery to prevent slow discharge and extend battery life.

Temperature & Storage

Avoid extreme temperatures whenever possible. Heat and cold can significantly reduce overall battery lifespan. Always store batteries at room temperature for best performance.

Factors That Affect Battery Life

Battery longevity is influenced by several factors including:

• User weight
• Terrain and surface conditions
• Temperature during use and storage
• Charging habits and consistency
• Overall condition of the mobility device

Maintaining proper care and charging routines will help maximize battery performance and lifespan.
