Medline OptiLock Nonadhesive Super Absorbent Wound Dressings

Features a highly absorbent polymer core that locks in large amounts of wound drainage to keep the site dry and protected. The design helps prevent skin maceration that can delay healing, while the non-adherent contact layer allows for gentle, pain-free removal. Suitable for use on pressure injuries, partial- and full-thickness wounds, leg ulcers, lacerations, abrasions, and wounds under compression. Not intended for third-degree burns, patients with known sensitivity to the materials, or wounds with little to no drainage.

Key Features:

  • High-Absorbency Core – Super-absorbent polymer material captures and retains large volumes of wound exudate.

  • Protects Surrounding Skin – Helps prevent maceration, reducing the risk of skin breakdown and supporting proper healing.

  • Non-Adherent Contact Layer – Designed to lift away easily without sticking to the wound, minimizing pain and tissue damage during dressing changes.

  • Versatile Wound Use – Ideal for pressure injuries, partial- and full-thickness wounds, leg ulcers, lacerations, abrasions, and wounds under compression.

  • Promotes a Healthier Healing Environment – Maintains balanced moisture levels to support faster, safer wound recovery.

Powerful Exudate Control for Healthier Healing

OptiLock is a high-performance wound dressing designed to absorb and lock away large amounts of exudate. Its super-absorbent polymer core rapidly pulls in wound fluid—even under compression—and converts it into a secure gel, helping protect the surrounding skin from maceration and promoting an optimal healing environment. Because it is non-adhesive, OptiLock removes easily and gently, minimizing pain and disruption to fragile tissue.

OptiLock can be used as a primary dressing on partial- and full-thickness wounds, including pressure ulcers, venous and neuropathic ulcers, post-operative wounds, superficial and partial-thickness burns (first- and second-degree), lacerations, and abrasions. It can also serve as a secondary dressing for deeper full-thickness wounds.

Key Benefits

  • High Absorbency: Super-absorbent polymer core captures and holds large volumes of exudate
  • Secure Fluid Lock-In: Absorbed fluid converts into a gel that stays away from the wound surface
  • Adaptive Performance: Continuously adjusts to changing levels of wound drainage
  • Gentle on Skin: Non-adherent design protects the wound and surrounding skin for comfortable, atraumatic removal
Advanced Dressing Layers & Application

  • Dispersion Layer: Evenly spreads and rapidly transfers wound fluid into the super-absorbent core for efficient moisture control
  • Blue Protective Backing: Forms a barrier that helps keep clothing and bedding clean and dry
  • Super-Absorbent Core: Draws in large volumes of exudate and converts it into a gel locked away from the wound to protect surrounding skin

Preparation & Application
Step 1: Cleanse the wound area using an appropriate wound cleanser.
Step 2: Gently dry the surrounding skin and apply a skin prep product if desired to protect the periwound area.
